Description

We are delighted to bring you a NEW training webinar in partnership with Safeguarding Support.

Safeguarding practitioners are used to regular updates forcing changes in safeguarding practices. However, with the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, updated actions from GOV.UK and The Coronavirus Act 2020 all making it clear ‘Schools should focus on safeguarding duties as a priority’, the frequency and number of updates have been unprecedented. Schools have a duty to have effective safeguarding arrangements and policies, which reflect the updated guidance and assist staff to understand and discharge their own role and responsibilities.

In addition to the updates come the additional challenges around having those inevitable difficult safeguarding conversations. Whether that be with staff members, parents or with the children themselves.

This 3-hour session will cover schools safeguarding responsibilities AND how to effectively manage difficult conversations.

Aims are to:

Highlight the latest changes to safeguarding guidance and arrangements including:

  • Safeguarding & Clusters
  • Safeguarding suite of policies updates
  • DSL’s
  • Vulnerable children
  • Attendance
  • Staff training & inductions
  • Children moving schools
  • Safer recruitment
  • Online safety/remote learning
  • Mental health

Support you to implement an alternative approach to having those difficult safeguarding conversations, allowing you to be yourself, whilst generating positive outcomes and buy-in from others and to:

  • Identify why we view some conversations as ‘difficult’.
  • Identify your own personal barriers.
  • Understand the effect and power of emotions on communication.
